Week 1 News

Heartening response to the Marais
Following the destruction of the Marais's homestead in a veld fire last week (Week 1, Weekly News) the support received has been fantastic.  We wish to thank all those who have responded to the Marais's plight.

Computer Room very popular with the boys.
The installation of the computer network in the Computer Room has been completed. Boys now have access to the Internet and email via the high-speed broadband satellite link.  The computer room has become the most popular facility at the college.

Falcon College Rugby Team to Play in Dubai
Falcon College has been invited to the International 7-aside rugby tournament in Dubai in December.  Falcon College may send two sides. Details will be posted to the weekly news page as soon as they are known.

Swimming Pool Re-opens
The swimming pool is now operational again. We are relieved and delighted about this development.  The pool had been drained for re-surfacing and repainting.

Bulldozer at work
For the last two weeks this 'high-tech' bulldozer has been seen around the college.  The bulldozer belongs to Mr John Mctaggart, a parent and member of the Board, who had kindly loaned it to the college.

The bulldozer has been involved in heavy construction work, in agricultural projects, the sewage system, Quiet Waters and other areas. According to Pete Stewart, the Estate Manager, "In the two weeks that it has been here, the bulldozer has achieved what our men with a tractor, picks and shovels would have in a year, and there were projects we would not have considered doing without it!"

Here the bulldozer is seen on one of its last chores.  Our camera caught it clearing the ground for the construction of new semi-detached bachelor's flats.
