John
Laing's Africa Challenge raised US$12 000.
- John was motivated by his immense passion for Falcon College

Falcon College.
John Laing set off from London on Sunday 15 October on a
15 000 km
Fundraising Drive, down the length of Africa in a Landrover.
John was motivated by his immense passion for Falcon College. He
paid for all the expenses out of his own pocket.
John's father Andy Laing (Chairman of the Board of Governors) joined him
in Cairo, Egypt, for the rest of the challenge down through Egypt, The
Sudan, Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania and Zambia to Zimbabwe.
A blow out in the Sudan which caused the landrover to roll-over
once, causing extensive damage to the cab but no serious
injuries to John and his father did not deter them and the
Africa Challenge continued.
John and his father arrived in Zimbabwe in time for Christmas.
The challenge raised a staggering US$12 000. College. John
was at the College on Thursday 26th January to present his cheque to the
College
Carlisle School also benefited....
John and Andy Laing did not travel on their own in the
Africa Challenge. There were other "troopers" who also travelled
in the adventure convoy to different destinations, the furthest being Cape Town.
A Dutch trooper in the challenge donated some coloured pencils and
crayons to Carlisle School. Carlisle School is the Falcon College
Primary School for our workers' children.
On Thursday 26th January, Andy Laing was at Carlisle
School to present the pencils and crayons.

Headmaster's Tea - A Treat For
Deserving Students
Every Thursday, during morning tea-break, the Headmaster
meets boys who have excelled academically, in sport or in a cultural
activity for a special tea.

The Headmaster entertains a group of students who
have been recommended for the prestigious tea.
To book a date with the Headmaster for the tea a student
will have been recommended by a member of staff. Housemasters
always vet the recommendations to ensure that only the deserving
boys make it to the tea.
