Mbonisa Weir - Official
Opening, 12 May 2006
The skies were clear and the weather was perfect
for the official opening of the Mbonisa Weir at Quiet Waters. Even
the giraffe attended the opening ceremony, albeit briefly, from behind
the weir. The wall was donated and constructed by the Goddard
family.

The plaque was unveiled by Jimmy
and Jenny Goddard.
Jimmy Goddard is a Falcon Old Boy and a parent.

Right: The arched wall of the Mbonisa
Weir. The stonework is a very impressive architectural beauty.
After the official opening, guests were treated to
snacks and drinks at the edge of the weir. The 'thankful' giraffe did not
seem to be interested in this stage of the ceremony as it had
disappeared into the thicket behind the weir.
We will be publishing a special Quiet Waters feature on the
Opening of the Weir next week.
Mark van Wyk - Our Future Snake Expert?
During the A pril/May holidays the Headmaster visited
David and Brenda
van Wyk at Hilton College. David is a Falcon Old Boy (ex-student and
ex-teacher). He runs the Snake Club at Hilton College. In the
true tradition of Falcon, his son Mark (2 years old) is destined to eventually attend
Falcon - his dad would like him to do so. He has the potential to
be a Snake Club leader when he comes to Falcon. Who knows? He
could one day become teacher in charge of the Falcon Snake Club
Young Mark van Wyk seems to be saying "Don't
be scared you cowards....." as he confidently holds a red-lipped herald.
Common Rooms Refurbished
The Common Rooms in all Houses have been totally
revamped during the holidays and all look wonderful – our grateful
thanks to Mrs. Bristow, Mrs. Thomson, Alice Bryan and the Parents’
Fund-raising Committee for a great job.

Tredgold boys watch television in the comfort of
their new lounge suite.
Junior Schools Rugby Festival
The weekend of the 26th and 27th May promises to be a
very exciting one as Falcon College will be hosting the Junior Schools
Rugby Festival.
We will be giving you further details in the next issue
of the Weekly News.
