Project Work
A wide range of interesting projects were embarked upon at Form 4

and in line with expectations for Design and Technology at IGCSE and
A Level. The final display which was mounted at the Technical Centre
attracted a large amount of interest.
Notable products included: A Borehole Fishing Tool, Four Plate Gas
Cooker, Solar Cooker, Cheese Slicer, Biltong Drier, Tennis Ball Thrower,
Label Design for a Honey Jar and the normal range of architects models
and household equipment.

Future Developments – Design and Technology
Centre
A growing problem in the teaching of Design and Technology at Falcon
College has been the need for additional workshop/classroom space.
This has been recognised by the Board and in September of this year
work was commenced on the laying of foundations for an additional
workshop venue adjacent to the existing Design and Technology centre.
When complete this development will satisfy immediate needs with the
provision of a venue complete with work benches, tools and equipment
required for the teaching of metalwork at all levels and in the longer
term it is planned to equip the facility with aids relating to the
teaching of plastics technology. A pit for teaching elements of motor
vehicle maintenance is also to be incorporated in the workshop area.
