| Headmaster's newsletter, week eleven of third term 2011 |
Thanks so much for your support at the swimming gala and congratulations to George Grey for their victory!
The Leavers' Dinner was also well supported by parents, where Mr. John McTaggart, our CEO, was the guest speaker. Once again, it was an occasion that we can all be proud of and Mr. McTaggart's speech was packed full of very good advice for leavers and in fact, for all of us present.
Mr. Heymans, in his capacity as an Old Boy, said to the Leavers - "Young passage falcons (falcons that have left the nest and are about to become independent) are the most sought after by Falconers - because they exude the energy and vigour of youth - they epitomize energetic young adults, ready to face the world head on." That's how he saw the group of young men leaving the College. Just this week a parent wrote - "…he has grown from a shy, unassuming boy in 2007(he was only just taller than the House sign)" to a confident, self-assured young man, thanks to the fantastic Falcon system". The vote of confidence is appreciated.
College Prefects and Heads of Houses were announced on Monday at a special Assembly and most certainly have all been well received by both boys and staff alike. I always like to say that these positions of responsibility are just that and boys who may have been left out, always have a chance throughout the year to show that they have what it takes.
The list of College Prefects is as follows:
Head Boy Leroy
Sibanda (Founders)
Deputy Head Boy Brett Mason
( Head of Hervey)

SPECIAL PARENTS' MEETINGS TO DISCUSS FEES:
These are a requirement of the Ministry of Education and Falcon will
be holding one in Harare on Monday 28th November at 5.30 p.m. at the
Tin Roof, Tripan Gym Complex, Enterprise Road, Chisipite, Harare.
It is vital that as many people as possible attend this - we need
your support.
We will also hold a meeting at Falcon on Thursday 1st December 2011
at 7.30 a.m. (the final day of term) in the Hall, before consultation
for Forms 2 and 3 takes place. Please do try to be there - it is vital
that we get the parental backing. I really hope to see as many of
you as possible at our fees' meetings in Harare, and here at the School.
The Chairman of the Board will address both these meetings.
GIRLS' HOUSE STAFF:
With the moving of the Falcon Girls' House, we would like to advertise
that our domestic staff (2 maids and a gardener) will be looking for
employment from January 2012. They all come highly recommended. If
anyone has any position to offer, please contact Martha Querl at Falcon
College.
SWIFT TRANSPORT - TRUNKS:
For those boys who use the facility to send their trunks home at the
end of term by Swift Transport, we wish to advise that due to Unifreight
suspending credit facilities for customers who do not utilize their
facilities on a regular basis, we will be forwarding your son's trunks
at the end of term "Carriage forward", to your local depot. You will
then be required to pay the transport on collection of the trunks.
