Headmaster's newsletter, week one of first term 2012

The term has begun well. While we do not expect everyone to be over the moon about being back at school - there seem to be very few issues.
I started the term talking to the boys about swearing and the use of poor language. I understand that some have ignored my directive and I will be dealing with it.
"Our boys", as most know, went to Argentina in the holidays to climb two peaks of the Andes, and while they never got to the summit of the major one due to bad weather closing in on them, they did conquer the second one. A full report and photographs will be posted on the web. Will Randle and the participants will also be doing a presentation on the whole expedition at a parents function in the near future.
The College is as full as it has ever been and in fact we have a shortage of studies both in Chubb and in Harvey. We are working on solutions to both of these issues.
Our Lower 6th group has been in the Chimanimani with Dave Fleming, Julie Linder and Artwell Mutape this week. They do a course on leadership up there to prepare them for their role in the 6th form.
The weather has been incredibly hot over this first week and we could certainly do with some rain.
Studen Ncube - our Head of Design and Technology - has had his book "Implementation of Design and Technology Curriculum" published this week which is a major feather in his cap and I congratulate him most sincerely.
I came across one new boy coming in from the first cross country run this term. When I asked how he was he said "I'm fine Sir - I stopped breathing and I vomited." He really was fine and ran very well in fact.
Please note that the dates for the Swimming Nationals have been changed and will now be held from the 16th to the 20th February 2012 and not on the 23rd to 27th February as previously stated.
