WEEK ONE OF FIRST TERM 2009
Dear Parents
Thank you all for the positive and enthusiastic manner in which you approached the start of the year. The new payment structure has worked very well indeed and I am most grateful to all of you for your 'buy-in'. We will do all that we possibly can to make up the time lost so that no boy can use this delayed start as an excuse.
I would like to make a point, however, that I have talked about many times. THE BOYS NEED TO BE IN SCHOOL BY 12.00 P.M. ON THE SUNDAY Our Accounts staff were still seeing folk at 8.30 p.m. on Sunday night. It really is unfair on Housemasters and Accounts staff and on our caterers, as we expect boys to be in by that time. PLEASE NOTE THAT LATECOMERS WILL BE PUNISHED IN FUTURE.
EXAM RESULTS:
We are happy with what has been produced by our boys. Many people
want the percentages to be circulated, but please remember that
these can very easily be manipulated and what is a pass, may be
misinterpreted.
At 'A' Level our best result came from Grant Reid who got 3 A's
in Geography, Maths and Physics. We had an 87% pass rate on all
subjects written. We had a 100% pass rate in English Literature,
Chemistry, Design Technology and Art & Design.
At 'AS' Level, Bukhosi Mathiya got 3 A's in Chemistry, Maths and
Physics. We had a 100% pass at English Literature, Information
Technology, Chemistry, Design Technology, Art & Design, Physical
Education, and Environmental Management. Our overall pass for
subjects written was 83%.
At 'O' Level, as already said, the top boys did very well with
Gerald Mashange getting 10 A's, five of which were A*. Daleroy
Sibanda got 9 A's and 1 B with 6 A*. Physics had a 96% pass rate,
English Literature an 86% pass rate, Chemistry was 88% and Environmental
Management was 86%. Our overall pass rate at 'O' level was 69%..
This week we have experienced a positive start with very few issues in our new boy intake, which is very pleasing. We have welcomed four new members of staff with Sue Bryant in the San, Lionel Brown who is our Computer Technician ,Gus Wiseman, our Junior Master, and Sihlesenkosi Sibanda who is teaching Computers. We have taken in 17 new boys in Forms 2, 3 and Lower Sixth and still we have requests for places.
Our first consignment of computers for our new facility arrived on Thursday, which we hope to have up and operational as soon as possible.
We have a Parents' social gathering on Friday 6th February from 4.45 p.m. on, at the Town House in Bulawayo. This is an opportunity for parents to meet some staff and each other. Please do pop in - these are always good occasions

Education is when you read the fine print
Experience is what you get when you don't".
