Dear Parents
The week has once again been a busy one, starting
with our Open Day last Friday. We had an overwhelming turnout
of interested folk. The day went well and we have had many really
very pleasing comments from prospective parents.
I would like to thank all of our current parents who came, who
were a great advert and helped a great deal to sway others. Once
again, I point to our product which I believe is as good as you
can get anywhere.
Our parents' gathering at the town office in Bulawayo
on Friday evening also proved to be a good opportunity for new
parents to talk to staff, Housemasters and boys. I thank everyone
for their input.

This week we look forward to our Primary Schools'
Cricket Festival where we are hosting 12 sides from all over the
country and Zambia. This will be a fabulous weekend. We are also
privileged to have the services of Brad Bing for the week. Brad
grew up in Cape Town, coming from a Cricketing family. He spent
ten years in the UK, playing County Cricket for Derbyshire and
Somerset, before returning to South Africa in the mid nineties.
He subsequently played in the Western Province league and set
up the business of "Sporting Chance". They specialize
in coaching the various sporting codes - Cricket being the main
code. They are also a key driver in the promotion of sport in
under-privileged communities and the identification of talent
there.
Brad is on the Western Province Cricket Executive in an Administrative
capacity and regularly travels throughout South Africa on "Sporting
Chance" and Western Province Cricket/business.
We are delighted to welcome Brad and his family to Falcon and
thank him for his input and expertise - given to the Falcon boys
and players attending the Tournament.
Brad has really motivated coaches and players alike and shown
us the way forward. We thank him most sincerely for his input
which has been fabulous.
The builders moved into the Computer Centre this last week to
put the finishing touches to the surfaces and the electrics so
that the folk who install the equipment can then get the Centre
up and running. We hope it will soon be complete.
The Form One boys have the opportunity this weekend to go home for the first time since their arrival. We hope that this will be a comfortable experience. They sang the School song in Assembly this morning and were greeted with warm applause from the rest of the School.
CULTURAL WEEKEND:
This takes place next weekend 20 - 22 February and I would remind
you that this, too, is a massive weekend at Falcon, with 17 schools
being represented. We look forward to it with excitement.

optimist - it does not seem to be much nor being anything else."
