Dear Parents

I am sure the boys are once again looking forward to their break after a long week where we worked last Saturday, to make up some time for our delayed start. We have now been informed by the Ministry of Education that term will start a week earlier in the second and third terms.

The term dates now read:

Close of First term Tuesday 7th April
Open of Second term Sunday 3rd May
End of Second term Tuesday 4th August
Open of Third term Sunday 30th August
End of Third term Tuesday 1st December

WINTER SPORTS:

Please could you make sure that boys bring back their Hockey Sticks, Rugby boots and Soccer boots after this weekend, as we will be doing some winter sport sessions in the final week. Hockey trials will take place before the end of term.

FOUNDERS' DAY:

Please would parents note that there will be breakfast (Bacon and egg rolls, boerewors rolls) and a sheep on the spit for lunch on Founders Day. Drinks will also be on sale. We really look forward to your company on that special day in our calendar.

MOUNTAIN BIKE CHALLENGE:

On the final Saturday of this term, the 4th April 2009, the Mountain Bike Challenge will take place in Quiet Waters.

The time is 8.30 for a 9.00 a.m. prompt start. Entry fee has yet to be decided, but could be in the region of R20. There are various categories - Social (±12 km); Intermediate (± 24 km); Elite (±40 km). It is intended that the route be a circuit so spectators are able to view and enjoy. Equipment: All riders will be required to use a helmet. We would suggest all riders have spare tubes or put Slim into their tyres, as there are sections that are thorny. We are hoping that Lee McNab will be able to bring tubes and Slim out for sale. It is hoped that the Camp Site can be utilized for riders and visitors to make use of ablutions and showers. It is also hoped that there will be a bar. Mr. Andy Bint is arranging braai packs

TERM TWO COLLEGE FEES:

Parents are request to put in place now their plans to pay in full the Term Two fees when the College opens on Sunday 3 May 2009.

APPEALS:

Sally Langley has put in an appeal for Readers' Digests for use by the Form Ones. Gordon Macdonald also appeals for back copies of "African Hunter" magazine, for the new Hunters and Guides Course, which has started at Falcon.
