Headmaster's newsletter, 15 May 2009

The week has been an amazingly full one. Thank you to all who attended the Harare Parents/Old Boys/Prospective parents gathering. It was fantastic to see so many people there and good to talk school to so many parents. My grateful thanks to the Dodingtons and all the other folk who did so much to make the evening the success that it was.

Thanks to all the folk who phoned, smsed and sent emails after our accident - it is wonderful to know that there is such support out there.

HOUSE TO HIRE IN BULAWAYO:

The College has acquired a fully furnished and equipped house in Bulawayo, which can be hired by parents. It has absolutely everything, including the services of a maid, should you wish to hire her. The cost of hire is US$50 per night and bookings can be made via our Bulawayo town office. People are welcome to use it for business or for a place to stay whilst down here. It is very conveniently situated and would help the College if people did stay there.

TEACHING STAFF:

We have taken on a third year student, Michael Roper, from Midlands Christian Training Institute, to teach junior classes in the Science area until Mr. Tendeka Matatu returns to the College in June. Mrs. Caroline Fenwick is coming in to cover for Sally Langley in Junior English and Art. We really are most grateful to her.

PRIMARY SCHOOLS' RUGBY FESTIVAL:
We are looking forward this weekend to hosting the Primary Schools' Rugby Festival. It is always a festive occasion and produces some great Rugby, so we look forward to seeing you this Saturday (tomorrow).

DEBATING SOCIETY:
Our School Debating team has travelled this weekend to Masvingo to contest a regional debate that will finally lead to a school being chosen to represent Matabeleland. We have had good debates in the past and look forward to a favourable result.

TOUR DE FALCON:
Please would everyone note that the date in the calendar is incorrect. The event is due to take place on SUNDAY 5TH JULY 2009. There is also an error in the calendar that suggests all boys are away at Lomagundi playing Rugby that weekend. Only the senior boys are at Lomagundi - the junior boys are playing at home.
I apologise for these errors - please make a note of them in your diary.

JAKE WHITE:
This Rugby legend will be at Falcon for the weekend of the 12th, 13th and 14th June. This is a wonderful privilege and it is hoped that he will coach coaches and boys during his stay. More details on his stay with us will be available in our next Newsletter. Do keep the weekend free to meet this Rugby icon.

Please do keep up-to-date on the Keegan Langley progress by visiting that web site on www.keeganlangleytrust.org

Have a good week.
