Headmaster's newletter, third term, week seven |
The week has been a very full one.
Our Music under the Stars concert, which was organized
by Mr. St. John, was drastically spoilt by the fact that he decided
to bring back to the College a boy I had asked to leave last term.
He did this with no consultation and very sadly, he told the boy and
his parents that I had sanctioned his return.
I have asked Mr. St. John to leave the College for his act of open
defiance and his underhand and dishonest behaviour.
I really felt sorry for the other staff involved in the concert, as
they were quite shocked and annoyed at being grouped with this kind
of behaviour.
The whole incident has been very unfortunate and damaging. I have
spoken to the entire school about the incident and explained the facts.
I congratulate in advance all those boys who are getting prizes on Speech Day - we all applaud you for your endeavours. I will publish the full list in my next Newsletter.
I am taking Adam Bristow (L6) down to Pretoria Boys' High to do a weeks' exchange with that school. It will be an opportunity for one of our pupils to get a first-hand look at another system and it should be an interesting experience for him. I hope that in the near future we can have a Pretoria Boys' High lad here for a while to show him what we do.
A large number of boys have started writing their exams and many will be staying here for the weekend. If your sons are coming home, I hope you have a great extended weekend with them.
