Headmaster's newletter, third term, week twelve |

| Deputy Head of School | Simbarashe Gonese (O) (Special Occasions) |

| Head of Founders | Delroy Sibanda (F) (Chapel) |
| Head of George Grey | Adam Bristow (GG) (Transport) |
| Head of Hervey | Michael MacIntosh (H) (San/Library) |
| Head of Oates | Godwill Mamhiyo (O)(Tuckshop/School Shop) |
| Head of Tredgold | Creven Matonisa (T) (Fatigues) |
As I said to these boys, it is often like taking a new Peregrine chick that has just learned to fly, and training it to perform and hunt to its full potential. It is exciting and most certainly provides its own new challenges and opportunities. The fiery unharnessed potential gives us all hope for the future in our schools, country and region.
TEACHERS LEAVING:
We will be losing Mrs. Tracey McGovern, who will be returning to live
in Bulawayo. Her family needs her at home. We have enjoyed having
Tracey at the College and thank her for her input in the Maths Department.
Mr. Massah Phiri will also be leaving the College - we value his input
in the IT Department. Mr. Tendeka Matatu takes over as the Head of
IT in the new year. We are still working on a replacement in the Science
Department for Mr. Matatu, and the Music Department.
We will be reintroducing French and Afrikaans at the lower level of
the school, as there is once again a desire for the languages at a
higher level. Mr. R Harrison and Mr. J. Heymans will be embarking
on the two languages at Form One and Two level.
Mr. Neil Davidson will be joining us from Rhodes University to teach
Geography and Economics. He is a Rhodes graduate whom we have sponsored
for the final year of his teaching diploma. He will coach Cricket
and Hockey.
We also have Mr. Jonny Carey joining us for the year. He is a graduate
doing a gap year. He will be our junior master, working in all areas
of school life, but coaching sport and helping in Quest Africa will
be his main direction.
SUE SWANEPOEL:
Sue has been our counsellor and run the 'Student Support team'. She
has been the person responsible for DAT testing of our pupils, issuing
results and advising pupils and parents. Sue has worked in our community,
counselling boys and staff alike. Her input to Falcon has been amazing
and we are really grateful to her for all that she has done. Her departure
saddens us and she will be greatly missed. We wish her all the very
best in the future.

We are delighted at how this is working - if there is any input from
parents, be it photos or a few sentences on an experience you have
had at the School, or with a Falcon boy, we would love to hear from
you. I would like to thank those parents who have sent photos - I
really do appreciate it. We do, however, need all the material to
come through this office - PLEASE DO NOT GO DIRECTLY
to the Web Master.
A quote from a Falcon 6th former on a transcript for university entitled - “Describe the world you come from”
'The Falcon System moulded me from a shy little boy
to a confident young man. The motto of the school rang true throughout
my tenure at the school.
The motto is: "sic itur ad astra" which is the Latin for
"reach for the stars". This is a principle that will remain
with me and every day I will set my aspirations high
and strive to achieve those aspirations'.
