Headmaster's newsletter, week eight of first term 2010

Last weekend, as is now becoming the case with almost all weekends, was very busy. We had home cricket games with our A sides against CBC, and our Cultural Weekend. The Cultural Weekend hosted 15 schools who sent 6 young people each to take part in various Workshops. It went well and I thank our staff and the Workshop leaders for their input.

I understand the dance group who led the Workshop, are in fact in Europe this coming week, so it was a great privilege to have them here.

We have been delighted at the rain that has fallen - we have had well over 100 mm since my last newsletter.

Jacqui Stewart i/c Art, would like to appeal for any old magazines with which folk are prepared to part.

I thought that it is worth mentioning that the Afternoon Programme for the boys has changed and boys are involved in Athletics at House and School level, and the odd winter games' practice session for teams touring or playing during the coming holidays.

We had boys return from National hockey duty at U17 level this week (W.Ullrich, N. Campbell, S. Stone and T. Mutembwa). They played in East London in a junior Olympic qualifier. Sadly, they found the going very tough.

We also had one boy, T. Ganyani, return from representing Zimbabwe in Cricket at U17 level;. He played in India, did really well and has gained a great deal from the experience.
