Headmaster's newsletter, week two of second term

The term kicked off with a bang with the Primary Schools' Rugby Festival. We hosted six primary schools and some entertaining Rugby was played, despite the early season timing. Lilfordia won the tournament and we congratulate them on this achievement.

Our boys and staff have once again been highly praised by our visitors, on their manners and willingness to help.

I would like to take the opportunity to thank all involved for their support and work. Sue Bint was the major organizer and we thank her for her efforts.

This week, we had +80 Grade 6 pupils and staff from Whitestone doing their adventure course in Quiet Waters. Various members of our staff have contributed to the course - Graham Armstrong on snakes, Pierre Heymans on birds and Gordon Macdonald on trees and general camp organization. Willie Schultz (Quest Africa) shot and dissected an impala for them.

DAT INTERVIEWS;
This past week we have had Felicity van de Ruit and Emma King at the School, doing the feedback interviews for our Form 4 boys, on the DAT tests they did last term. These tests point boys in the right direction subject-wise and give the boys with the correct ability, the chance to choose the correct subjects. They also start the " career bells ringing" in order that boys start gathering information from Mrs. Heather Macdonald on future options.

We welcome Mr. & Mrs. Ferreira to Falcon. The Music in the School is once again welling up and the enthusiasm I have heard this week is very encouraging. I feel quite sure we shall see the fruits of Mrs. Ferreira's work very soon.
