Headmaster's newsletter, week six of second term

As always, the week has been extremely busy. This will be my final newsletter before the half term break. We are almost ready for the influx of South African visitors for our Rugby Festival, which we are really looking forward to. It has been a long time since we had South African Schools in our country and we hope this will start the South African teams coming back to Zimbabwe on a regular basis. A programme of events will accompany this newsletter and we would love to see you at the College at any point - it should provide really good entertainment.

MEASLES:
We have now vaccinated everyone who required a vaccination and it does appear to have done the trick. We continue to get the odd case, but I think we are through the measles' issue.

EXAM CANDIDATES:
I really urge all parents to make sure that all exam candidates take some books home this half term. The mock exams are really important for boys wanting to apply for university entrance, as the mock results are what gets them provisional acceptance and acceptance into residences. A couple of hours a day will make all the difference, so please help us to make this happen.

ACCOUNTS:
Fees - With the half term weekend a few days away, the attention of Parents is drawn to the check system that will be in place when pupils return to the College on Tuesday 22nd June 2010.

It will be expected that all arrangements are up-to-date and any fees that are in arrears are paid in full.
Pupils whose accounts do not meet these requirements will not be permitted to enter the College.

INTERHOUSE SINGING COMPETITION:
We would like to notify you that the Interhouse Singing Competition will take place on MONDAY 14TH JUNE 2010. The programme starts at 6 .30 p.m. and there will be tea, coffee and snacks available at interval.

U17 INTER-PROVINCIAL HOCKEY:
I would like to thank all our staff, but specifically Martha Querl, for their hard work in making this tournament happen and run so smoothly. We have received several letters of thanks from other provinces and schools. It was a great pleasure having Mr. Tim Middleton (Head of Gateway), Headmaster-in-charge of Schools' Hockey, with us at Falcon for the weekend. Mr. Middleton had previously taught at Falcon and had not been back for some time.

U14 CRAVEN WEEK;
I would like to wish our boys, S Snyder, A Sibanda and E Nxumalo, all the very best for this event in South Africa. It is always a tough experience. I also congratulate them for their inclusion in the team.
