Headmaster's newsletter, week ten of second term

By the time you get this newsletter, exams will be over. The question one asks is if there is ever a right time for exams, as we still have a month of school left. The boys need to appreciate this fact and not feel that the term is over, as there is still plenty of work to be covered.

We are also sending home forms for those boys travelling to Harare, asking for confirmation of where they will be staying for the St John's Rugby and Hockey games. Please fill these in and return the forms to the coaches - this is vital.

We still have a very full term with a big "Old Boys" weekend, when we play Peterhouse, with all the teams at Falcon, from U14 to senior level. We really do look forward to as many parents coming out to Falcon, as is possible.

"The Witness" cantata has been postponed to October, just before Speech Day. We hope you will all diarise this. It will not be happening this term, as previously advertised. We hope that by putting it on just before Speech Day, we will be able to give it more exposure.

HAIRCUTS: There are several boys whose hair is too long and the weekend would be a good time to rectify the situation.

END OF TERM: This is a reminder that school finishes at the end of term on THURSDAY 5th August and NOT on the Tuesday, as is customary. There is consultation for Forms 4, Lower 6 and Upper 6 on that Thursday. This is an excellent opportunity for parents of exam classes to speak to the teachers and get important holiday work information.

I will be up in Harare on Friday 16th July at 43 Lawson Avenue, Milton Park, for a ‘Question and Answer' session. This event starts at 5.00 p.m. and is a social occasion as well. If you have any issues, please do come along and even if you don't have issues, please feel free to come along for the social.

2. The Old Boys' Dinner on Friday night is only open to those who have booked through Dave Fleming at the College before Tuesday 20th July. This will be an adults only affair.
